Smartphone SIG
All About Smartphones and Tablets
This SIG explores the wonderful world of smartphones, from how to turn it on to getting the most out of this most amazing device.
Whether you are just thinking about getting one and need advice on which to choose, or want to control the world's nuclear arsenal,
we hope to have the answers to your questions (and pledge to find the answers we don't know, or make up those we can't).
Much of this material will also be applicable to tablets. You don't need a smartphone to check email, browse the web or use apps.
SIG leader Murray Smolens promises to leave no phone unturned (pun intended) in our quest to address these issues. As a relative novice
himself, he will be lining up experts from both within and out of PCS to answer such questions as:
- Which is best, iPhone or Android (or maybe something else)?
- If I choose Android, which manufacturer is best?
- Which service provider should I choose?
- How do I get email via my smartphone?
- How can I get onto the internet?
- Can I set up appointment reminders with my device?
- What are "apps," and how do I get them?
- Is it safe to use the phone for these functions (except when driving, of course)?
- How can I keep my smartphone running smoothly?
These and many more questions will be addressed at our SIG meetings. Please join us for what we are sure will change the course of
human history, or at least help you use a smartphone…smartly!
